Yes. The shark teeth used in Tooth & Tide pieces are real. Jordan has been collecting shark teeth since she was 8 years old, and that lifelong collection eventually became part of what inspired Tooth & Tide.

Many of the teeth Jordan works with are naturally shed by living sharks. While working and diving with sharks, she sometimes sees a tooth fall during a dive and dives down to retrieve it before it disappears below. Other ocean-found materials Jordan uses are pieces she has personally collected from beaches and rivers or received from friends who share her connection to the ocean.

No sharks are harmed in the collecting of the teeth. Sharks naturally lose and replace their teeth, losing up t0 30,000 teeth in their lifetime. The teeth Jordan retrieves during dives have already been naturally shed—the shark simply swims away.

Yes. Jordan designs and makes each piece by hand. Once a tooth or other material reaches her workbench, she studies its individual shape and decides what it should become—a ring, necklace, bracelet or something completely original.

For the metal smithed pieces, yes, your piece will be the one in the product listing photo. For the wire wrapped and drilled pieces, your tooth will be similar in size and shape to the one in the photo, but not identical. Thats what makes sharks tooth so cool and unique, not one is exactly the same.

We work with naturally shed shark teeth, shells, sea glass and other ocean-found materials, along with sterling silver, 14k gold-filled and select 14k gold components.

Tooth & Tide is created by someone who spends her life on the water, and Jordan chooses materials with that lifestyle in mind. Yes. Custom work is part of what makes Tooth & Tide special. If you have an idea for a piece, reach out to Jordan and tell her what you're imagining. Please note, select times of the year custom orders will be closed.

Yes, we ship internationally. Shipping options and rates are calculated at checkout. Customs duties or import fees may apply depending on your destination.

Tooth & Tide jewelry is made for people who live close to the ocean. A little care along the way will help keep your piece looking its best through all the places you take it.
STERLING SILVER
Sterling silver naturally develops a patina over time, especially around salt water and humidity. Keep it looking bright by gently polishing it with a soft jewelry cloth when needed.
When you’re not wearing your piece, store it somewhere clean and dry.
GOLD-FILLED & GOLD
Gold-filled and solid gold pieces require minimal care. Gently clean them with a soft cloth and mild soap when needed, then rinse and dry thoroughly.
Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners that could damage your jewelry.
SHARK TEETH & NATURAL MATERIALS
No two shark teeth, shells or pieces of sea glass are exactly alike. Their natural shape, texture and character are part of what makes each Tooth & Tide piece unique.
Treat these materials with care. Avoid dropping your jewelry on hard surfaces and keep it away from harsh chemicals, cleaners and extreme heat.
AFTER THE OCEAN SALT WATER IS PART OF THE STORY.
After a day in the ocean, gently rinse your jewelry with fresh water and dry it thoroughly with a soft cloth.
Salt, sand, sunscreen and other residue can build up over time, so a quick rinse and dry will help keep your piece looking its best.
